Description of uhmwpe mooring rope
UHMWPE mooring rope is a dyneema rope equivalent. It is produced by ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber and high technology. The rope has high strength, lightweight, and low elongation.
A same diameter of UHMWPE rope is stronger than steel wire rope. At the same time, it has only 1/8 of steel wire rope’s weight which resulting more efficiency and easy handling during heaving load operation.
Because the structure of the rope is woven, not twisted, it will not rotate when loaded. More over, the hmpe rope is soft and easy to handle. When rolled into a small coil, it will not be kinked like a wire rope.
UHMWPE mooring rope comes with special coating on the surface to enhance UV resistance and breaking strength. The resin treatment will help the rope deal with the offshore’s harsh environment more easy. Besides, both end spliced eye with extra protective sleeve will improve the wear-resistant capacity, ensuring the rope ready to serve for mooring upon delivery.
Features
- Stronger:with a same diameter, the strength of hmpe mooring rope is stronger than that of wire rope.
- Lower elongation: their breaking elongation is close to that of wire rope.
- Lighter: with a same strength, their weight(g/m) is only 1/8 of wire rope.
- Smaller: in the same strength, the dia. of the UHMW PE rope is 55%-60% of the nylon rope or polyester rope,45% of the polypropylene rope
- Material:UHMWPE
- Structure:12 strand
- Density: 97g/cm3
- Melting point:140℃
- Elongation: 5%
- Abrasion resistance:excellent
- UV resistance: excellent
- Chemical resistance:good
- Dry and wet conditions:wet strength equals dry strength
- Non-rotating and anti-kinking, longer service life
- Easy to handle, inspect and repair
Application
The stiffness of HMPE ropes ensures reliable and durable performance in demanding applications. Its low elongation, temperature elasticity, and consistent strength make it an indispensable tool in industrial, marine, and offshore environments
